Below is a list of ideas that I intend to expand upon overtime and represents fledgling thoughts that I have about inventions I think would be useful to see come into creation (if you’re reading this and think you might be able to help turn some of these ideas into reality or would like to explore the possibility of going into partnership in their production please leave a comment or email me/my company).
1. Coffee/Sandwich Van Horn – Crux of this idea is that currently in the UK at least, only Ice Cream vans have a distinct sound that can be played over a loud speaker / horn that when anyone hears it they know what is waiting for them if they want to purchase should they wish too. The idea I had this morning when chap turned up outside my office and beeped his horn, was that it would be really useful for Coffee/Sandwich vans to be able to have their own unique sounds that people can come to recognise rather than be beeped at to alert them of their presence. Breifly discussed idea the the coffee van owner who said he thought it was a great idea and would be willing to pay £100 pounds for such an item… so if anyone can assist in making this product for a total production cost of £50 or less, please get in touch.
2. Visual alarm watch – this idea came out of a conversation I had with my partner about looking after her sister who has Downsyndrome and currently requires an awful lot of chiving and reminding to help her get out on time and to the activities she enjoys going to. Her sister has virtually no concept of time and can hardly read, but she can understand and follow visual prompts. My idea is for the creation of a waterproof and robust watch that has a small colour LCD screen and that can be programmed (perhaps via usb link to computer) to show a picture representation of what she needs to be doing at each point in the day, so that she can take control of organising herself. I think it would work well if the watch beeped/and or vibrated at 2 minute intervals until she pressed a ‘done it’ button on the watch when she completed a task (such as; had a shower, brushed teeth, ate breakfast, got dressed etc). I don’t quite know where to start with this idea, but do think that it would be a very useful product to many people like her.
3. Facebook add-on utility – ‘you two would get on great together’ – simple piece of extra functionality for Facebook that would allow someone to send a ‘you two would get on great toether’ invitation to two friends simultaneously who they think would get on really well, but that might not know each other yet. If this inspires somebody to create it, please could you let me know when it’s done – I’d like to use it
Some great ideas there. I have been toying with the idea of teaching myself how to create Facebook apps. It’d be a good way for me to get back into serious programming and may lead to potential revenue streams. Let’s have a chat about this the next time I see you…
