These are the things that I would like to see occur in the World and that I intend to make a contribution towards achieving in my lifetime; some are so idealistic that I wonder if even given all the resources in the World they could ever be achieved, but still, I see no reason why even if the outcome is extremely unlikely, I and everyone else who shares these ideals should not at least try and turn them into reality.
Around Education:
- That all children are taught memory techniques from an early age, rather than it being left to pot luck or parenting that they get on OK in the world of school and academia (which massively favours those who find their own keys to a good memory).
- That children’s emotional intelligence is developed first. In particular that it becomes widely accepted that it is a key developmental stage to learn to be at ease with and express / channel all emotions that humans feel. In particular I am passionate about addressing the severe imbalance in the current UK education system, that places virtually no importance upon emotional intelligence and instead hurries off to improve childrens intellectual abilities at a very early age, thereby massively hampering their potential in life as the intellectual capabilities are continually sabotaged at various stages in their life by a powerful emotional core that they do not know how to handle.
Around Business:
- There are many ideals I’d like to see occur in this arena, but one in particular relates to how commitment and performance is often related to time spent at work as opposed to the results produced. How on earth has it come to be that…. (will carry on with later – my 3yr old son has just woken up!).
Living in Switzerland I can confirm that your view of how kids should be taught about emotional intelligence really does work. That’s how the system is over here.
I love your view of the world. Great! Keep on with the blog, I’ll definitely be bookmarking you.

At my company, we are measured in two dimensions, 1) Performance against annual Objectives (Results), 2) Behaviour. This reflects the belief that it’s as important HOW you do something as the RESULT you achieve. It’s a pretty cool system if you ask me.
